One shot in downtown Jefferson City
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Police say a person was shot early Friday in downtown Jefferson City.
The Jefferson City Police Department said officers at about 4 a.m. heard multiple gunshots in the area of Madison and East McCarty streets. Dispatchers also began receiving calls about a "weapons offense" in the 200 block of East McCarty, the department said in a news release.
Officers found casings in the road and an investigation found a small silver four-door car had sped away from the scene, according to the release. Officers found a car matching the description and a search turned up a Glock 17 pistol with an extended magazine, police said.
Police said a person on pretrial release for an unrelated charge was taken into custody but it was determined he was not involved in the shooting.
A person also showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening, according to the release. Police said the victim was talking to investigators and but they did not know Friday whether he was the intended victim.
No one was in custody Friday afternoon.
