Police reopen northeast Columbia street after call was false alarm

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police closed a street temporarily in northeast Columbia on Friday morning, but details on the reason were not immediately available.

Several Columbia Police Department and Boone County Sheriff's Office cruisers were seen at Mulberry Road and Nelwood Drive, and an ABC 17 News photographer saw officers going in and out of a home in the area.

Emergency dispatchers sent a public alert saying Mulberry Road was closed at Nelwood for a "law incident." The alert gave no other details.

A follow-up alert about 30 minutes later said Mulberry had reopened.

CPD officers at the scene said a family member of the property owner suspected there might have been a break-in, but it turned out to be a false alarm.
