Maintenance and restoration on the sculpture in front of Columbia City Hall will cost $113,011, according to a Monday press release from the city.

Work on the “Keys to the City” sculpture will begin Tuesday as crews put up safety fencing around it. The project is expected to take three weeks to complete, the release says.

Crews will begin removing glass panels from the sculpture on Wednesday, while rust and paint removal starts Thursday and will go through early November, the release says.

The glass panels will be reinstalled in early November. The release says a new “lighting system will be installed within the keyhole to enhance the sculpture's visual appeal,” and that it will be fully installed early 2027.
