Tracking hot, windy weather before mid-week storms bring relief

TODAY: I'm tracking a warmer start to the day in the mid-60s, but by the afternoon, another hot forecast is on the way. Low 90s return, and with that, breezy southwesterly winds at 10-15 mph, gusting up to 25 mph, are set to come along with it. This, paired with low humidity and dry fuels, will lead to an elevated fire risk this afternoon.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking a mostly clear night as winds begin to calm, blowing at 8-12 mph out of the southwest. Temperatures will drop into the upper 60s by the end of the night.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking increasing cloud cover through Tuesday, but this won't keep temperatures from warming back into the low to mid 90s. By late evening/overnight, showers and storms will enter from the west, becoming more widespread through Wednesday morning. These are set to last through most of Wednesday afternoon before a brief break in activity, but that won't last long, as another wave of showers and storms takes over Thursday, once again lasting most of the day. Rain and cloud cover exit Friday morning, and what's left is a cool, windy afternoon as temperatures only warm into the low 60s. To start the weekend, Mid-Missouri begins in the low 40s, once again topping out in the low 60s by Saturday afternoon.
