Tracking summer-like heat and spotty storm chances

THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly sunny and increasingly hot, with highs in the low 90s and a heat index in the upper 90s. A Heat Advisory has been issued across the Lake of the Ozarks and I-44 areas for the worst heat up to 100 degrees.

TONIGHT: Heat lingers through the evening, with temperatures in the 80s before midnight. Lows remain warm in the mid-70s.

EXTENDED: Summer-like heat returns this week, with a heat index up to 100 degrees through Thursday. Spotty storms are possible each afternoon, but relief will be limited, with rain totals above a half inch for some. A front remains just out of reach to our north through late week, and we could continue to reach the 90s into the weekend.
