Truck driver in tractor-trailer crash involving 42,000 pounds of paint charged with DWI

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A truck driver who crash a semi carrying 42,000 pounds of paint on Tuesday in Montgomery County was charged with three misdemeanors.

Lonnie Britton, of Middletown, Delaware, was charged on Wednesday in Montgomery county with driving with intoxicated, having a BAC too high to drive a commercial vehicle and reckless driving.

The crash occurred just after midnight on Tuesday and Britton allegedly could not tell troopers how the crash occurred. A trooper brought Britton to a service station and Britton allegedly made odd statements” that “did not make sense,” according to the probable cause statement.

Court documents say a breath sample stated Britton’s blood alcohol level was .071, which is higher than the legal limit to drive a commercial vehicle.
