Semi-truck hits concrete barrier, closing westbound Interstate 70 in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Westbound Interstate 70 is closed past exit 128A in Columbia due to a crash Tuesday morning.

According to the MoDOT Traveler Map, the crash was reported at 8:01 a.m., and the lanes reopened at about 10 a.m.

ABC 17 videographer saw a single semi-truck on its side underneath the overpass. A tow truck was seen working to flip the truck upright around 9:10 a.m.

Emergency vehicles and a tow truck could be seen on the MoDOT Traveler Map camera located at the Connector.

A Columbia Police vehicle was seen blocking northbound traffic on Highway 63 around 8:30 a.m.

Traffic was seen backed up for several miles going toward Kansas City.

A MoDOT spokesperson told ABC 17 News that the contractor working in the area reported the truck hit a concrete barrier, moving it out of place. No damage was reported to the overpass structure.

Columbia Fire and Police were both on scene.
