Jamborees mark unofficial start to high school football season

WARDSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

The high school football season is almost here.

On Friday night, teams across Mid-Missouri got their first taste of Friday night lights, as jamborees raged on across the area. The jamborees serve as the teams' final dress rehearsal for the season, as multiple teams meet in sets of short scrimmages.

Out in Wardsville, the tradition continued, as Helias, Rock Bridge and Blair Oaks met in jamboree action, once again. Each team put up a strong defensive effort, but it was the Bruins who ended with a pair of trips to the end zone.

In the state capital, Jefferson City, Southern Boone and Tipton met in a jamboree, as well. You can find highlights from both preseason scrimmages in the video player above.

The high school football season will officially kickoff on Aug. 28.
