Man was likely dead for ‘several weeks’ before being found in Johnson County, sheriff’s office says

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says a man who was found dead on Tuesday had likely died several weeks before being found.

The sheriff’s office wrote on its social media that Missouri Department of Transportation workers found human remains near Highway 50, west of Route FF in Knob Noster. The sheriff’s office says the man who was found was a 70-year-old Raytown man.

The name of the man was not publicly released, but authorities say no foul play is suspected at this time. The family of the man has been notified.

“Initial investigations indicate the individual had likely been deceased for several weeks prior to discovery,” the post says.
