Candlelight vigil planned for Columbia man killed in vehicle-pedestrian crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) 

A candlelight vigil will be held for a 47-year-old Columbia man who was killed in a vehicle and pedestrian collision on Aug. 14.

Mark Hunter Jr. was killed after being struck by a vehicle near East St. Charles Road and Remm Drive at about 9:09 p.m. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The vigil honoring Hunter Jr. will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Hogan House in Columbia. Community members will gather to mourn his death and remember his life.

Columbia police claim that they used Flock cameras to help identify and later arrest two suspects. 

On Saturday, officers arrested 53-year-old Columbia man Shunta Bohanon.

Bohanon was charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter, armed criminal action, leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. A confined docket hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, while a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10.

Sandra Sharp, a 55-year-old Columbia woman, was also arrested on suspicion of tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest and assault of a special victim in the fourth degree.
