Tracking a few storms Wednesday evening, fog possible by morning

TONIGHT: Scattered storms exit east, patchy fog developing by daybreak. Lows in the upper 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and comfortable with highs in the lower 80s.

EXTENDED: A complex of severe storms is now working into far northwest Missouri and will continue to move east near the Iowa-Missouri border tonight. I'm thinking most of our area is spared from this, but there could be a strong gust or small hail approach the Highway 36 corridor around sunset if this cluster holds together. Farther south, the atmosphere is primed for action south of the front across southern Missouri, with storms developing in the next few hours along and south of I-44. We'll have a short window for anything severe (wind, 1" hail, isolated tornado) in Phelps and Pulaski counties between 6-8 p.m. As clouds slowly clear tonight with light winds, we may see some patchy dense fog develop in places that saw rain later in the day. That will diminish early, leaving us with a nice Thursday with highs in the lower 80s are more sunshine. Friday looks slightly warmer with highs in the mid-upper 80s before a weak cold front brings a chance at a few thunderstorms in the evening through early Saturday morning. A few disturbances overhead in the northwest upper flow pattern may bring daily rain chances from the weekend into early next week, but by no means a washout.
