Tracking scattered storms tonight, Monday cool down

TONIGHT: Scattered storms through about 10:00 p.m. along and south of I-70. A few storms may bring severe wind gusts up to 60 mph. Lows in the upper 60s.

TOMORROW: We'll be cooler behind the front with northerly winds and highs in the lower 80s.

EXTENDED: A weak low pressure system left over from this morning's storms will allow scattered storms to develop along the cold front sliding south across Missouri early this evening, especially along and south of I-70. The primary concern will be damaging wind gusts to 60 mph and brief heavy rain. Storms will press east by late this evening, and with the front to our south Monday, we'll see an end to extreme heat, at least for a day. Highs Monday reach the low 80s, but winds will turn back to the southwest on Tuesday ahead of a slow moving cold front moving in from the north. We'll see highs reach back in to the upper 80s to around 90 on Tuesday with the heat index climbing to the upper 90s to around 10. Showers and storms develop to our north on Tuesday night, and a few of those could be strong with isolated strong wind gusts overnight into Wednesday morning. Wednesday's temperatures will be determined by the cold front position, with points north in the low 80s, while points south reach the low 90s. Scattered showers and storms will be possible again on Wednesday into Wednesday night before the front clears the area to the south. The rest of the week will be noticeably cooler with highs reaching the low 80s from Thursday on into the weekend, with quiet weather expected.
