Tracking the stubborn summer heat sticking around to start the weekend

TODAY: I'm tracking another extremely hot afternoon with only isolated storm chances at most in the forecast. Temperatures by the mid-afternoon hours will be in the mid-90s, but humidity will continue to make it feel closer to 105-110 degrees. This is why an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is still in effect. Winds will be out of the south at 5-10 mph, gusting up to 15 mph.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking a mostly quiet evening with isolated storm chances at most, as temperatures gradually cool into the mid to upper 70s by the end of the night. Winds will continue to blow out of the south at 8-12 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking isolated storm chances and heat continuing as heat index values climb into the 105-110 degree range by Friday afternoon, which is why the ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day will continue until Friday evening. Saturday is still expected to be hot, with air temperatures in the mid- to upper 90s, but humidity will be on the lower end, so heat index values will not quite be able to reach extreme criteria. Sunday is still expected to be hot, but increasing chances of showers and storms throughout the afternoon and evening hours will begin to bring relief. By Monday, as precipitation chances continue, temperatures will only climb into the mid-80s. Low chances for storms remain through Tuesday and Wednesday as temperatures begin to gradually climb once again.
