Tracking continued heat into the weekend, storm chances possible

TODAY: Intense heat continues today as temps soar back into the mid 90s this afternoon. Continued humidity will place heat indexes back into the triple digits, potentially reaching closer to 110.

TONIGHT: Lows remain warm overnight, only dropping to the mid to upper 70s. Expect clouds to increase overnight.

EXTENDED: An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day has been extended into Friday as extreme heat looks to continue towards the weekend. While a cooldown was expected tomorrow evening, expanded high pressure over the region will leave temperatures in the mid 90s until at least Friday. As it stands, the Extreme Heat Warning is still set to expire tomorrow at 8 pm, but heat indexes look to remain in the triple digits until as late as Saturday. We are also continuing to track the potential for storms late this week. While the additional high pressure has dropped potential some, a cold front will still be present over the next several days, which could trigger thunderstorms if we get any disturbances in the atmosphere.
