Mizzou football kicks off Week 2 of fall camp

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

One week of fall camp is already behind us, as the Mizzou football team is less than one month away from kicking off the season against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, on Sept. 3.

On Monday, head coach Eli Drinkwitz and company put practice No. 7 of camp into the books. You can watch extended highlights of that practice in the video player below.

Week 2 comes after local media members got the chance to speak with some of the stars of the team, on Friday, at the end of Week 1.

Safety Santana Banner was one of four players to step up to the mic, as he's found himself in an even bigger leadership role heading into his senior season. He highlighted communication as one of the biggest things the secondary has been working on in fall camp.

"[The secondary has also been focusing on] just having great effort, not making the same mistake twice and really just like sharpening each other as a group," he said. "So, I feel like we've been getting better at that day by day."

Banner is coming off of an impressive spring camp for the Tigers, as the 6-foot-3, 215-pound talent clocked a 4.35-second 40-yard dash time in testing for the 2026 campaign.

He's looking to take another step forward after junior campaign where he was third on the team with 59 total tackles, as well as 30 solo stops, a tackle for loss, three deflected passes and his second-career interception.

"Showing what I do everyday," Banner said, when asked what he wants to show on the field this season. "I feel like I take every day with a grain of salt and a chip on my shoulder. Everything I do, I do it with intent and I just want to show, like, what I'm capable of...I just want to show how I play football."

Banner and company will continue building towards the season opener, when fall camp continues on Tuesday.
