Tracking summer heat and late-week storms

THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly sunny, with a high near 90 degrees.

TOMORROW: Mostly clear and mild, with lows in the upper 60s and low 70s.

EXTENDED: Conditions remain hot and dry through most of Thursday, with highs around 90 degrees, before rain chances increase late Thursday night. Scattered showers and storms will track through the area early Friday, with heavy downpours possible during the morning commute. Some dry time is possible midday, but a second round of storms develops Friday afternoon and evening, with a half-inch to an inch and a half of rainfall possible by the end of the day. Isolated showers may linger behind this system on Saturday, but lots of dry time is expected this weekend, with below-average temperatures in the upper 70s on Saturday and low 80s on Sunday.
