Tracking extreme heat throughout the week, heat indexes as high as 110

TONIGHT: Conditions will remain muggy tonight, as they will throughout the week. Temperatures will drop to a humid 74 degrees overnight, with some lingering clouds.

TOMORROW: An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect beginning tomorrow and extending through Tuesday for extreme heat this week. High temperatures tomorrow will reach the mid to upper 90s, with heat indexes approaching 110 degrees. Partly cloudy skies will offer some breaks from the sun, but be sure to exercise caution if you're spending time outdoors this week. Stay hydrated, and seek shelter in an air conditioned environment if you exhibit any signs of heat stroke. The evening won't offer much of a break, as temperatures will remain in the mid 70s with intense humidity continuing throughout the night.

EXTENDED: Intense heat will continue through Tuesday. Monday offers another chance for heat indexes to reach the 110 degree mark, and while Tuesday will be slightly cooler, feels-like temperatures are still expected to reach 105. Because of the sheer amount of moisture in the atmosphere, a slight chance for a pop-up shower is possible each day this week. A backdoor cold front will allow for some relief Tuesday night, as temperatures drop from the mid 90s to the upper 80s on Wednesday. High pressure will prevent any organized rainfall from developing until our next active weather pattern approaches Thursday evening, which does create the potential for some thunderstorms. As we approach next weekend, we'll remain in the upper 80s and most should stay dry on Friday and Saturday. Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies are expected throughout the week.
