Missouri Task Force 1 coming home from Texas deployment

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Missouri Task Force 1, an urban search and rescue team attached to the Boone County Fire Protection District, began its trip home from a deployment in flooded south Texas on Friday.

The team was first sent to Texas about a week ago after heavy rains caused devastating flash flooding in the southern part of the state. The team worked in Zapata County, near the southeastern Texas-Mexico border, and then staged in San Antonio to be ready if needed for Tropical Storm Bertha response.

The trip home will take about a day and a half, the Task Force stated in a news release.
