Tracking a dry Wednesday before end of week rain chances

TODAY: Wednesday is dry and sunny, much like Tuesday. Highs are forecast in the upper 80s, with heat indexes expected near 90 degrees.

TONIGHT: Skies will clear early tonight, but then clouds return ahead of some weakening showers that may drift in from the west by sunrise on Thursday.

EXTENDED: Showers and storms gradually become more likely through the day on Thursday. This may keep our temperatures cooler and lower our chance for strong storms later in the evening. Highs may range from the 80s to the low 90s, depending on rain coverage on Thursday. There will be a low-level jet of wind that will try to re-ignite storms on Thursday evening. If we don't see much rain through the day on Thursday, this could threaten the region with strong storms. Thursday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day. Damaging wind would be the main concern with storms that develop Thursday evening. This will come as a surface front is slowly sagging southward through the region. This keeps storms in the forecast again on Friday, with some showers lingering in the forecast on Saturday. Drier weather is forecast for Sunday through Tuesday.
