Tracking a sunny and warmer Friday, heavy rain by late weekend

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy to mostly clear with patchy fog developing by daybreak. Lows in the upper 50s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and mild with highs in the lower 80s.

EXTENDED: We'll start out with some patchy fog overnight with light winds and clearing skies as lows drop to near the dew point. Tomorrow looks excellent with high pressure briefly setting up overhead, bringing sunshine and light winds with warm temperatures in the lower 80s. We'll see a couple spotty showers on Saturday morning ahead of a warm front that will begin lifting across the region, but most of the day is looking warmer and more humid with temperatures reaching the low 80s. A complex of storms is expected to develop to our west across Kansas on Saturday night, moving into Mid-Missouri on Sunday morning, with renewed showers and storms possible as the warm front continues to lift north, with a cold front quickly moving in behind to clear us out by Monday. Heavy rain will be possible at times with 1-3" possible. Much of the region is highlighted in a slight or level 2 risk for excessive rainfall for Saturday night into Sunday. A few strong storms are possible on Sunday, but the overall threat continues to look low/conditional depending on how much widespread rain lingers early in the day. Next week will start off cooler than normal and dry as northwest upper flow sets in for a few days.
