Tracking rain early Tuesday, severe storms possible on Wednesday

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds late with lows in the upper 50s.

TOMORROW: Rain and a few rumbles early with late afternoon clearing. Highs in the upper 70s to near 80.

EXTENDED: his evening will be nice, but as a front approaches from the north early tomorrow morning, we'll see a shot at rain and a few rumbles of thunder through about the lunch hour or shortly thereafter. Storms are not expected to be severe on Tuesday. As rain clears, temperatures bounce back to the upper 70s to near 80. Wednesday is a Weather Alert Day as a warm front lifts north across the region, parking across far northern Missouri into Illinois during the day. Severe storms may begin to develop by mid-late afternoon in this zone, bringing the potential for tornadoes and large hail before congealing into one longer squall line that expands back into Missouri ahead of the cold front, bringing more of a widespread damaging wind threat to the region. Much of Mid-Missouri is in a level 3/5 risk for severe storms on Wednesday into Wednesday night. We'll pick up another 1-2" of rain with this event as showers linger in the south for the first half of Thursday. Friday and Saturday are looking seasonably warm, but we could be dealing with another batch of widespread rain and storms between late Saturday night and Sunday, perhaps forcing people inside for Father's Day with rain much of the day. Another 1-3" will be possible through Sunday night.
