St. Elizabeth hoists silver trophy on the final day of the class one baseball season

OZARK, Mo. (KMIZ)

After a 26 game season, St. Elizabeth took home a second place trophy at the MSHSAA Baseball championships.

The Hornets secured a big 11-1 win over North Shelby in the semifinal round of the state tournament to earn a spot in a second consecutive title game, and the seventh championship in the past decade.

Northland Christian would be the one to strike first in this year's final, taking a 1-0 lead on a wild pitch in the first inning. The Trailblazers didn't stop there, as Harrison Dieker launched a ball into the far right field corner for an inside-the-park home run that put them up by four.

St. Elizabeth was hitless until the third, when Carter Reinkemeyer and Eli Kemna broke up that streak with a pair of singles and helped load the bases. But the hornets weren't able to convert on the opportunity, and Northland took advantage.

They would tack on three more scores in the bottom half of that inning, and added an eighth run in the fourth. Eventually, the Blazers put the finished the game with a walk off bases loaded single in the sixth, to go up by 10 and secure the state title.

Head coach Caleb Heckemeyer and his team picked up its third silver trophy in the school's history after an impressive 18-8 season, and will hope to continue that stretch of finals appearances in the 2027 season.
