Tracking scattered storms tomorrow, warm weekend ahead

TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the mid-60s.

TOMORROW: Scattered showers and storms through early evening with highs in the upper 70s. A few storms may produce locally heavy rainfall.

EXTENDED: A few light showers have been moving towards the Lake of the Ozarks and Truman Lake, but the rest of the area has remained dry and will be dry into late this evening. A disturbance moves right overhead tomorrow at the same time as an approaching weak front bringing drier air from the northeast. The two systems battle to keep the northern portions of the state dry, while most of Mid-Missouri will have a chance of at least scattered showers and thunderstorms on Friday with locally high rainfall rates due to the increased moisture content in the air. Severe weather is not expected and we'll have some dry time in between. Clouds and rain in the forecast will keep temperatures in the upper 70s on Friday. Saturday is looking a little warmer and drier with a chance for afternoon pop up showers and storms. Our upper pattern becomes a bit more amplified Sunday into next week as we'll be in between low pressure across the Northwest and across New England, with northeasterly upper flow limiting the humidity from being too uncomfortable. We can expect a drier stretch of weather for much of next week and temperatures near or just above our seasonal averages in the lower 80s.
