Tracking a split weather pattern with warmth and storm chances this week

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few showers south early, lows in the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Partly sunny with a few storms across southern Missouri. Highs in the lower to mid-80s.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking a few showers and storms across southern Missouri, as far north as the Lake area. There are a few embedded lightning strikes, but no severe weather or flooding is expected as storms will begin to taper off after sunset. The weather pattern is looking similar for much of the week with a stalled front well to our south, drawing in more humid air with a little more forcing for showers and thunderstorms. We'll be lacking wind shear and more robust instability, so severe weather is not expected. To the north, high pressure settles over the Great Lakes, pushing drier air into the region from the northeast. Areas north of I-70 will stay largely dry through the next several days and beyond into the weekend, while those south of the Missouri River have a better chance of seeing daily rain and storm chances with less than 0.5" possible through the end of the week. In areas that remain dry, highs will reach the low to mid-80s each day with overnight lows in the 60s. Those dealing with rain will see highs in the low to mid-70s. More of the region remains dry with high pressure overhead over the weekend with highs making the low 80s and more sunshine. The pattern continues to look sunny and dry into the first half of next week.
