Tracking clouds Thursday, rain and storms return Friday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and cool with lows in the lower 50s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 60s.

EXTENDED: We'll manage to warm a few degrees tomorrow, but it will still be cooler than average with highs in the upper 60s and mostly cloudy skies ahead of a disturbance that will move in off the Plains between Thursday night and Friday, bringing the potential for showers and storms for the Friday morning commute through late afternoon. Southwest upper flow will allow for a warmer weekend with increased moisture across the region, pointing toward daily chances of a few storms tied to the warmest part of the day. Storms will likely be isolated to scattered in nature, with plenty of dry time in between. There could be a couple storms with small hail and brief gusty winds, but organized severe weather is not expected over the weekend. We'll see highs right around or just above our seasonal averages. Rain amounts will be highest on Friday, with 0.5" to 1", with the higher end of that range west of Highway 63.
