Tracking another round of strong storms with heavy rain, strong winds late tonight

TONIGHT: Cloudy with another round of storms late. Some storms could be strong to severe with damaging winds and heavy rain possible. Lows in the upper 60s.

TOMORROW: Storms early, followed by spotty showers. Highs in the upper 60s to low 70s and cloudy.

EXTENDED: Late this evening, our focus will turn to what we're expecting overnight with the next round, that has already developed as a parade of supercells across Nebraska, eventually congealing into a line of storms potentially damaging winds and heavy rain. That line looks to move into northwest Mid-Missouri between 11 p.m. and midnight, pushing into Columbia and Jefferson City between 1-2:00 a.m. then progressing slowly southeast throughout the early morning. The bulk of heavy rain moves out by mid-morning, but we'll see lingering spotty showers and mostly cloudy skies through the afternoon, making for yet another gloomy day. A Flood Watch is in effect through Tuesday afternoon, with an additional 1-4" of rain area wide with the second wave of storms. Wednesday and Thursday are looking cooler as surface high pressure spins across the Great Lakes to our north, but the pattern shifts again by Friday, with southerly flow allowing warmer and more moist air back into the region. We'll see high temperatures get back into the 80s with rain returning as a front stalls out across the region on Friday, with a few disturbances sliding across the region through Monday. While the weekend won't be a washout, we'll have daily rain and storm chances through Memorial Day. Severe weather chances are looking low with a lack of strong wind shear in place.
