Chiefs add four more rookies on day three of NFL Draft

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Kansas City selected four more players in the final four rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Chiefs entered Saturday only having taken defensive players, and added to that streak in round four. With the 109th pick, they selected Jadon Canady out of Oregon to add to the secondary. In his senior year, he totaled 39 tackles and two interceptions with six pass deflections.

In the fifth, KC had two picks, which they used to add their first players on the offensive side of the ball. The Chiefs traded with the Pittsburg Steelers, to select Emmett Johnson from Nebraska. The running back took a massive jump in his third year with the Cornhuskers, doubling his career total in just his final season. He ended with 12 touchdowns and 1,451 yards on just 251 carries.

With their second fifth round pick, they decided to add another skill position taking Cyrus Allen. The former Cincinnati wide receiver turned heads by hauling in a whopping 13 touchdowns on just 51 receptions in his one season with the Bearcats.

Finally, Kansas City spent a seventh round pick on LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. The Tiger spent five seasons in Baton Rogue, and after a breakout 2024 season, he was projected to be a highly touted prospect heading into 2025. However, he took a step back, only throwing for 1,927 yards, more than half of his total from the year prior. He's expected to slot in as the third string behind Patrick Mahomes and Justin Fields
