Chiefs add third defensive rookie with second-round pick

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Chiefs added edge rusher R Mason Thomas out of Oklahoma with the 40th pick in the 2026 NFL draft on Friday.

In his senior year, Thomas recorded 6.5 sacks, good enough for second on the Sooners, and forced two fumbles. He also recorded 18 solo tackles and eight assists coming off of the edge, as part of Oklahoma's top 3 rushing defense this past season

Over his collegiate career, the Fort Lauderdale native totaled 65 tackles and 17 sacks. He joins Mansoor Delane and Peter Woods as part of the team's rookie class.
