Tracking a mild start to the weekend, strong storms by Sunday night

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cool, with lows falling to the upper 40s. Northeast winds will be light at 5 to 10 mph.

TOMORROW: Sunny and mild, with highs in the upper 70s and a light easterly breeze.

EXTENDED: The weekend will start sunny on Saturday, but clouds will roll in Saturday night, bringing a chance of a light shower or two. Clouds will continue into Sunday, and an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day has been issued for the possibility of strong to severe storms Sunday night and again on Monday afternoon. Storms on Sunday night will weaken as they move into our area from the west, and rain may linger into Monday morning. As a warm front lifts north, it may recharge the atmosphere ahead of a cold front moving through on Monday afternoon. Severe storms will develop ahead of this cold front by midafternoon and into the evening on Monday, with all severe hazards possible. There is still uncertainty about how many severe storms we will see in either round on Sunday night and Monday afternoon, so stay tuned for updates to the forecast.
