Tracking severe storms with large hail and damaging winds tonight

TONIGHT: A line of storms with the potential for damaging winds and large hail will move through tonight, along with 1-2"+ rainfall, making flooding a possibility overnight. Lows in the mid-40s.

TOMORROW: Clearing and chilly with highs in the upper 50s.

EXTENDED: A line of thunderstorms is expected to trek across Mid-Missouri this evening, bringing the threat of widespread damaging winds in excess of 70 mph, and the threat of up to baseball size hail, along with a few tornadoes. Beyond the severe threat, up to 1-3" of rainfall is possible on top of already saturated soils. A Flood Watch is in effect for much of Mid-Missouri through early Saturday morning. We'll see clearing clouds with highs in the upper 50s on Saturday, and if winds die down enough, frost will be possible as lows fall into the mid-upper 30s. Bring in or cover up sensitive plants before Sunday morning. Sunday will be warmer and sunnier with highs reaching the upper 50s. High pressure builds early next week, allowing temperatures to gradually warm and sunshine to hold on across the area through mid-week. The pattern shifts a bit toward late week with another low pressure system working across the Plains, potentially bringing more active weather between Thursday and Saturday.
