ABC 17 News weather camera shows plane smoking Thursday at COU

COLUMBIA, MO. (KMIZ) -

An American Airlines flight leaving Columbia Regional Airport is delayed after a power unit issue on the plane forced passengers off the flight.

COU airport manager Mike Parks tells ABC 17 News that an auxiliary power unit on the plane had an issue, prompting it to stay on the ground. No passengers were hurt.

The American Airlines flight was scheduled to leave for Dallas/Fort Worth at 12:06 p.m.

Passenger Ethan Hayes told ABC 17 News that he was sitting in the back of the plane during boarding heard a loud sound. He then saw white smoke drifting by the window and the plane's lights went off. The crew on board then asked all passengers to deplane.
