Tracking morning fog, warm Friday with storms to the west

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with patchy dense fog possible overnight. Lows in the mid-60s.

TOMORROW: Morning fog followed by more sunshine and highs in the mid-upper 80s. Scattered storms possible west of Highway 63 by evening.

EXTENDED: Another night of clear skies and light winds with temperatures falling to near the dew point could allow patchy dense fog to form yet again before daybreak, diminishing a few hours after sunrise. It will be a warm day as winds begin to shift a bit ahead of a disturbance that could bring scattered storms by early evening across Kansas and western Missouri. Some of these storms could be strong with up to quarter size hail and a few strong wind gusts, especially west of Highway 63. The Storm Prediction Center has a level 1/5 risk for much of the region on Friday. A few showers and/or rumbles could linger into Saturday, but most of the day looks dry with highs in the lower 80s. A similar setup exists for Sunday as northwest upper flow continues through early next week, and brings repeated chances for some showers and storms. The next chance looks to be from Sunday night into Monday, although heavy rain isn't expected. Temperatures look to remain near or below average through the entire period with rain amounts staying under 0.5".
