Tracking a damaging wind threat this evening and a possible frost this weekend

TODAY: Friday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day, as scattered severe storms are expected tonight. For the most detailed forecast, read our ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day Blog. Storms will develop in the west this afternoon, possibly as soon as 3 p.m. From then, through the midnight hour, storms are expected to track from west to east, bringing a threat for damaging winds area-wide. Hail and tornadoes are possible as well. Much of the day is dry, with highs expected in the mid-80s this afternoon, but temperatures may reach 80 by noon.

TONIGHT: The severe threat may end as soon as 10 p.m. to midnight, but this largely depends on the speed of leading edge storms.

EXTENDED: Temperatures start in the 40s on Saturday. As north winds fill in behind the front, temperatures are slow to climb into the 50s. Rain may be lingering early Saturday, but dry weather is likely by sunrise. Frost is possible Sunday morning, as clear and calm conditions allow for extensive cooling overnight, of an already cool northerly air mass. Sunday through Wednesday of next week appears quiet, with mild temperatures.
