Tracking a few storms tonight, severe risk Friday afternoon and evening

TONIGHT: A few storms across northern and eastern Missouri through early evening, becoming partly to mostly cloudy overnight with lows in the upper 50s. Gusty winds topping out at around 25 mph.

TOMORROW: Warm and breezy with highs approaching 80 degrees. There is a chance for an isolated storm or two in the afternoon, but rain is more widespread with storms that move in with the cold front by evening.

EXTENDED: Storms this evening will be focused along a warm front to our north, where the best threat for severe weather will be into tonight. Most of the area stays dry and warm as we're back in the warm sector of this system tomorrow, with highs approaching 80 degrees. A line of strong to severe storms is expected to develop around the dinner hour, pressing east and bringing the potential for damaging winds and hail, along with a low tornado threat through late Friday night. An additional 1-1.5" of rain will be possible with this line, adding to our already water logged soils and smaller rivers. We're cooler for the weekend but we'll have more sunshine with highs in the upper 50s for Saturday and Sunday. We'll get a break from active weather for much of next week with a low chance of rain or flurries Monday night, then drier conditions as temperatures warm for the rest of next week.
