Columbia City Council approves revenue guarantee for American Airlines

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia City Council approved a $1.5 million revenue guarantee for American Airlines on Monday evening. This will allow the city manager to execute an air service agreement with American Airlines to provide round-trip services between Columbia Regional Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Under the agreement, American Airlines will commit to providing non-stop flights at least once per day, while the City of Columbia will guarantee a minimum of $1.5 million for one year.

Funds for the revenue guarantee would come from $750,000 of private contributions and $750,000 from the Transportation Sales Tax.

American Airlines is expected to start offering flights to Charlotte N.C., on June 4.
