Mizzou delays the ending of game two against UIC due to weather

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou baseball's second game against UIC got stalled out in the fifth inning due to weather delays, on Friday night. The Tigers will finish out the action against the Flames on Saturday at 2 p.m. with game three starting up 45 minutes after the conclusion of game two.

Head coach Kerrick Jackson and his squad will need to use the extra time to game-plan a comeback, as the MU will pick things up in the bottom of the fifth inning, down 12-4 to UIC.

The Flames' hefty lead came thanks to a nine-run second inning, as Tiger starting pitcher Javyn Pimental got into a jam that he couldn't find his way out of. He allowed six earned runs on two hits in just a matter of 1.1 innings of work.

Four Mizzou hitters did manage to drive in runs, headlined by Camdenton alum Kam Durnin. The shortstop just worked his way into the starting lineup, after dealing with an oblique injury, and tallied his first hit in the black and gold, on Friday: a 415-foot home run, over the scoreboard at Taylor Stadium.

Mizzou will look to find an answer against UIC on Saturday, when the Tigers pick the game up in the fifth.
