Columbia police in standoff north of I-70, neighborhood road closed off

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department was seen on Tuesday searching an area north of Interstate 70.

CPD shared a social media post indicating it was investigating an area of Sylvan Lane between Vandiver Drive and Quail Drive. It had asked the public to avoid the area while officers worked.

A Columbia police officer confirmed to ab ABC 17 News reporter that they were in a standoff with an individual.

Police closed off Sylvan Lane while the standoff occurred.

A CPD spokesman said police are in the area in regards to an assault investigation.
