Mizzou hoops holds off Texas A&M in nail biting finish for third straight win

The Tigers kept their winning ways after outlasting the Aggies in a nail biting finish, winning 86-85.

Mizzou jumped out to a lead in the first half, holding it for the first 10 minutes. But Texas A&M had one of the best shooting performances in its school history, nailing 11 three's in just the first half to go into the break up 46-41.

The Tigers rallied back from down by as much as seven, to take its first lead of the second half with 13 minutes remaining. From there, Mizzou extended its lead to as much as eight, but the home side kept to their guns, and brought the game back down to just a one possession difference with five minutes left, where it would stay the rest of the way.

With the game on the line, Mizzou found an open Shawn Phillips underneath the basket for a game winning alley-oop to secure the team's first win against Texas A&M since the 2021-22 season.

Trent Pierce has his best game of the year, leading the Tigers in scoring with 23 points. T.O. Barrett finished just behind him with 17 points. Mizzou out rebounded the Aggies 39 to 26, including 16 on the offensive glass.
