Tracking mild temperatures before a weekend winter storm

THIS AFTERNOON: Sunny and mild, with highs in the low 40s. Winds from the west will be gusty, reaching up to 25 mph at times.

TONIGHT: A cold front will move in late tonight, dropping temperatures into the low 20s. Winds switch out of the north, gusting near 30 mph behind the front.

EXTENDED: Clouds increase throughout the day on Thursday, and temperatures remain near average in the upper 30s to low 40s. We likely stay dry through most of Friday, but Friday through Sunday are ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days for extreme cold, with wind chills plummeting below zero most of the weekend. Snow chances are also increasing late Friday through Saturday and early Sunday, with higher accumulations possible south of I-70. A Winter Storm Watch has been extended across many of our southern counties as impactful snow is becoming more likely. Stay tuned for updates to the forecast, and have your winter necessities ready.
