Columbia Parks and Rec hosts MLK candlelight walk and memorial

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia Parks and Recreation will hold its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Candlelight Walk and Memorial Celebration Monday.

The candlelight walk will begin at the Armory Sports Center, 701 East Ash Street, at 6:30 p.m.

People are asked to meet in the basement of the Armory; the lower-level entrance can be found in the back of the building. According to the release from Columbia Parks and Recreation, the walk will then head to St. Luke United Methodist Church for the memorial celebration at 7 p.m.

All city offices in Jefferson City and Columbia will be closed on Monday, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. City council meetings have been rescheduled for Tuesday.

Residential curbside trash will not be collected on Monday and will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week. Go CoMo buses will also not operate.
