Tracking a breezy afternoon with an elevated fire risk
THIS AFTERNOON: Partly sunny, with temperatures climbing into the mid-60s. Winds from the southwest will be breezy, gusting up to 25 mph. Elevated fire weather conditions are expected south of I-70 due to these high winds and humidity lower than 30%.
TONIGHT: Light showers move in after sunset and last most of the night, but rain wraps up before sunrise tomorrow. Rain amounts will be very low, less than a tenth of an inch for everyone. Temperatures begin dropping behind a cold front, falling to the 40s by midnight and into the 30s early tomorrow.
EXTENDED: Temperatures will be stuck in the 30s all day Wednesday despite more sunshine, and a strong northerly breeze will keep the wind chill in the 20s. Thursday will start in the teens, the coldest temperatures for January so far, with highs in the 30s amid a lighter breeze. The week ends seasonably near 40 on Friday, and a few flurries will be possible both Friday and Saturday as another front moves through the area. That front brings arctic air to the region this weekend, pushing highs down to the 20s on Saturday, and lows near single digits Sunday morning.
