Mizzou Volleyball’s Maya Sands and Caylen Alexander named to All-American teams

Two volleyball standouts gained All-American status.

Mizzou's libero Maya Sands and outside hitter Caylen Alexander received All-American honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association. They become the 28th and 29th players to receive this honor in school history.

Sands was selected for the second time in her career, being named to the honorable mention team a season ago. In her senior year, she led the conference in digs (511) and digs per set (4.69). She started every set for the Tigers, and finished third on the Mizzou all-time list in digs with 1,588.

In her career, she also picked up three consecutive SEC Libero of the year awards, making Mizzou one of two schools to have a player with three-in-a-row.

Alexander earned a second-straight nod from the AVCA All-American to the honorable mention team. The senior led the Tigers in kills, second in double-doubles, and was fourth in points per set. In conference she finished seventh on a kills per game and average points per game basis.
