Two cats and two birds perish in early morning fire in Boone County

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two birds and two cats are dead after a home in northern Boone County caught fire early Tuesday morning.

According to Battalion Chief Clint Walker with the Boone County Fire Protection District, firefighters were called around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday to the 11400 block of Hecht Road for reports of a fire. Firefighters arrived ten minutes later and found the home 50% involved in flames.

Two adults and four children made it out of the home safely.

ABC 17 News arrived at the scene just after 4 a.m. and saw five Boone County Fire Protection District fire trucks and a Boone Health ambulance, as firefighters worked to put out any remaining fire.

As of 4:20 a.m., firefighters remained on scene to put out hot spots.

The scene was clear just before 6:15 a.m.

Walker says the home is likely a total loss.
