Mizzou women’s basketball earns 10th win in dominate effort against Saint Louis
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou women's basketball team got back into the win column, on Sunday afternoon, with an 82-66 win over Saint Louis at Chaifetz Arena.
With the victory, first-year head coach Kellie Harper and her team improved to 10-3 on the season, as the group is four wins away from matching MU's win total from the entire 2024-25 season.
The Tigers came into Sunday's in-state showdown against the Billikens off of a narrow and emotional loss to Illinois in the annual Braggin' Rights game, earlier in the week. Despite the result not going their way, Coach Harper said that marked one of her team's grittiest outings of the season.
Mizzou took the positives out of that loss and turned them into a bounce-back win in St. Louis.
Coach Harper's team was in control all day long, as four Tigers got into double-figures in the scoring department.
Guards Grace Slaughter, Shannon Dowell and Chloe Sotell each tied for team-best 16 points against the Billikens and each contributed in the rebounding department, as well. Sotell had a game-best eight rebounds, while Dowell came down with six boards and Slaughter tallied five.
Once again, Harper's team overcame some adversity in the victory. It wasn't their best shooting night (43 percent from the floor) and the team actually got out-rebounded by Saint Louis (47-38), however, as they've done so many times this season, they found a way to grind out the win.
Up next - Mizzou will return home to host North Alabama on Sunday, Dec. 21. Tip off is scheduled for 12 p.m.
