Mizzou men’s basketball looks for bounce back after first two losses of the season

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

After two games on the road, the Tigers return home seeking their ninth win.

Mizzou men's basketball suffered a pair of defeats against Notre Dame and Kansas last week.

With just three games remaining until SEC play picks up, head coach Dennis Gates' squad currently sits at 8-2 and will look to return to the win column when Alabama State comes to town.

"We lost two games in a row, and we don't want to keep that streak going," said guard Annor Boateng. "So we need to dial in to our next opponent, working on ourselves, and just getting better from there."

You can watch the full press conference with Annor Boateng and coach Gates in the video player above.

In its last match, Mizzou fell to Kansas at the T-Mobile Center in the Border Showdown. Despite being tied in the final four minutes of the first half, KU managed to run away in the second half, handing the Tigers their second loss of the season.

MU shot just 34% from the floor against the Jayhawks while going 7-for-27 from three.

"If you're making the threes, that's great, but I don't want to live and die by threes," said coach Gates. "I want the guys who are at the high percentage to shoot those."

Gates went on to say that despite the poor performance, guys like Luke Northweather and Jacob Crews have done a great job knocking down the open shots when they get them. Mizzou is still top-10 in the country in field goal percentage even with the sub-par performance.

Up Next - The Tigers return to Mizzou Arena to face Alabama State on Thursday, Dec. 11. Tip-off is currently scheduled for 7 p.m.
