Tracking the end of rain as cloud clear out, cool night ahead

THIS AFTERNOON: Clouds gradually clear out with highs in the upper 60s south of I-70, warming to near 70 farther north.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly with lows in the mid-upper 40s.

EXTENDED: Clouds hang on as a cold front presses into the Ohio Valley this afternoon, with gradual clearing by late afternoon. Those that see late day sunshine warm into the upper 60s to lower 70s. We'll clear out overnight, and with light winds temperatures are expected to drop into the 40s area wide by daybreak Wednesday. High pressure over the Great Lakes will allow for plenty of sunshine between Wednesday and Thursday, with another cool start on Thursday morning in the 40s. We'll be a bit warmer on Friday morning as a weak cold front to our north sends some cloud cover our way. Winds will shift back south with high temperatures getting back into the upper 70s by late afternoon. Some clouds could linger into early Saturday, keeping morning temperatures in the mid-50s. Hotter temperatures return for the weekend as a warm front lifts through the region, sending us back into the upper 70s to near 80 on Saturday and mid-80s by Sunday. Another approaching front could bring low rain chances by Monday, but a more impressionable cool down doesn't arrive until next weekend or later.
