Mizzou football brings ‘urgency’ into final practices of fall camp

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
With the conclusion of Monday's practice, the Mizzou football team only has one more fall camp session left, as the 2025 season is just around the corner. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz said he expressed just how important urgency will be to his team in these closing days of preseason work.
You can watch extended highlights from practice No. 17 in the video player below.
In less than two weeks, the Tigers will kickoff the season against Central Arkansas on Thursday, Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. There could still be some lingering questions headed into that game, too.
Coach Drinkwitz has made it clear that he's not afraid to bring the quarterback competition into the first game of the season, as Beau Pribula and Sam Horn continue to battle for that marquee role of the offense. Following Saturday's scrimmage, Drinkwitz said the pair of quarterbacks are just about even as far as stats, but he now needs to see 'transformational leadership.'
Other than that competition, it sounds like Mizzou is comfortable with the direction they've gone up and down the roster in fall camp, including on their offensive line. Coach Eli mentioned some shakeups would be coming in week thee of training camp, as he continued to look for the best five.
He shifted left guard Cayden Green over to left tackle, promoted returner Curtis Peagler to right guard along with a slew of other changes. Drink took some time to hush the concerns that have come from the fan base and media, after Saturday's scrimmage, as he said they have it all under control.
Up next - Mizzou will close out fall camp with one more practice on Tuesday morning. After that, media members will hear from Drinkwitz and his nine team captains to wrap up the preseason.
