Tracking a few storms tomorrow with hotter temperatures by afternoon

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with lows in the lower 70s.

TOMORROW: Partly sunny with a few storms possible by mid-afternoon. Highs near 90 with a heat index around 98.

EXTENDED: Tonight looks dry as any leftover spot storms lose energy with the loss of daytime heating. Tomorrow's setup could be similar with a decaying complex of storms trying to move in from the northwest producing a few storms from late morning through mid-late afternoon. Storms aren't expected to be severe, but could briefly cool things down in some areas. Places that don't see much rain make it to the upper 80s to around 90 degrees with a heat index around 100. Friday will be the hottest day with highs in the low 90s and a heat index around 100-102. A slow moving cold front approaches from the northwest as the upper ridge tries to break down a bit over the weekend, providing daily chances for rain and storms from Saturday night through early next week. While severe weather risks are low, rainfall rates could be high in storms. The front has a hard time progressing south, keeping heat and humidity around into next week, although not as intense as we have seen over recent weeks.
