Mizzou receiver named to prestigious preseason watch list

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. is being recognized among some of the top players at his position, as he was named to a preseason watch list for one of the most prestigious honors a receiver can get.
The Biletnikoff Award announced that Coleman Jr. made its preseason watch list, along with 46 others players across the nation, on Wednesday. The honor is given, each year, to the top wide receiver in college football. Former Colorado star Travis Hunter won it in 2024, while Tennessee's Jaylin Hyatt was the last SEC standout to claim the trophy in 2022.
Coleman Jr. is in the midst of preparing for his first season in Columbia, after transferring from Mississippi State in the offseason. Despite the Bulldogs' struggles on the field in 2024, the St. Louis native still managed to shine. He hauled in 74 receptions for 932 receiving yards and six touchdowns through 12 games. Coleman Jr. also added four rushes for 11 yards and 16 punt returns for 153 yards.
The receiver ranked fifth in all the Southeastern Conference in receiving yards, eighth in all-purpose yards and tied for 12th in receiving touchdowns, while leading Mississippi State in all of those categories.
Mizzou will be his fourth school, after he spent time at Jackson State, Louisville and in Starkville with the Bulldogs. Over the course of his career, he's been an All-SEC Third-Team selection and was named the 2022 SWAC Freshman of the Year.
The winner of the Biletnikoff Award will be announced at the Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 11.
