Hot spots reignite following total loss fire at a bowling alley in Eldon

The Miller County Ambulance District responded to a commercial structure fire in Eldon.

ELDON, Mo. (KMIZ)

Smoke and flames were seen again Saturday afternoon at the damage site of a total loss fire in Eldon.

Eldon Police and fire crews responded to a large building fire around 7:10 p.m. at a bowling alley in Eldon on Friday night.

The fire broke out at Eldon Lanes, located at 401 W. 19th Street.

An ABC 17 News reporter went back to the scene of the fire Saturday and saw smoke coming from the site just before 5 p.m.. After taking a closer look, the reporter saw a small area with flames visible.

Eldon Fire and Police came back to the site and resprayed the hot spots. Within 30 minutes they were able to get the building damage back under control and clear out.

Eldon Police told ABC 17 that 6 fire departments from surrounding areas assisted in putting out the flames on Friday.

43 fire fighters were on scene, all crews left the scene at 11:09 p.m.

The Miller County Ambulance District told ABC 17 News in a statement that no injuries were reported.

Eldon Police dispatcher Alisha Tucker told ABC 17 News it was a total loss.

Eldon Lanes posted on Facebook around 7:45 p.m. that the bowling alley had burned down.

The post said that the business was closed at the time of the fire and that no one was inside. The post also stated that the cause of the fire is unknown, and updates would be posted on Facebook.

Anna Wyrick, an Eldon resident, lives across the street from the bowling alley and tells ABC 17 News she was trying to leave her home to go to the store when she saw smoke pouring from the building. She also said the bowling alley meant alot to her family and she hopes the owners choose to rebuild.

"We've been here 16 years. It's been here the whole time we were here. My granddaughters love it, my grandson loves it, they all loved it. So, sad day yesterday," Wyrick said.

Eldon Police say the cause of the fire is still under investigation and in the hands of the state fire marshal.
